Hurricane Joann Hits Chicago

My Mom arrived in Chicago yesterday morning. To say that my Mom can't handle technology is an understatement. She was using GPS, and I asked her how far she was, and how soon she'd be here. She was half yelling into the phone "I DON'T KNOW, I'M NOT SURE, OH SHIT..I JUST PASSED MY EXIT...OK HOLD ON...HOLD ON...I'M IN A CITY, I DON'T KNOW IF I AM IN CHICAGO...I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF I AM IN ILLINOIS...." OK, Hurricane, I am going to hang up so you can focus.

She made it here alas. She literally parked her car, came inside, and immediately started cleaning, unpacking boxes. Going into full-blown Hurricane mode.

The picture below were taken yesterday before we started doing the majority of unpacking, and bought any furniture. So I will have updated photos in the coming days....

We have been shopping, unpacking, repairing, and doing our best to get Rachel settled. Today we bought 4 pieces of furniture from Nadeau, a shabby chic antique furniture store. Rachel bought a dresser for the guest bedroom, a small table, a TV entertainment center, and a shelving unit for the hallway.

We went to a few more stores, and bought a headboard, lamps, rugs, towels, etc. So, we are on our way to getting Rachel moved in more and more everyday!!

Tonight a blizzard is coming in, so we went to the grocery store to buy food for the next few days. We are all in our PJ's watching Apollo Theater on BET, and living the dream.

Stay tuned!!

  1. Oh my God this is hilarious.

Kaity this made me think that I am happy you guys are there to help Rachey unpack and if you guys could literally get her completely done before you leave that would help her out more than you guys will ever know. Poor Rachey. I remember crying when I moved to Alabama because I was so overwhelmed with just simply getting everything unpacked and hung up on the walls. Keep doing what you guys are doing! I am so glad you are helping Rachey!!!
